 MEMORY VERSES:      1 John 3:1-3

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

THOUGHT TO REMEMBER

As God’s children, we are recipients of God’s unending love and all of the benefits that accompany His love

Something to Think About

GIVE THANKS    Suzanne Smith Lammi

The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has blessed us. Psalm 67:6

Most Bible scholars consider this psalm to be one of communal thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. God was seen as the source of blessings resulting in a year of plentiful agriculture. The psalms have been the focus of Jewish and Christian worship since early times. They speak to modern readers in completely different circumstances just as powerfully as they spoke to their original audience.

Even today farmers are dependent upon things over which they have little or no control. Too little or too much rain can have devastating effects on their crops. Prayers of thanksgiving are still offered by rural communities of faith during harvest.

For those who live in urban areas it may be more difficult to see a connection between God’s blessings in nature and their daily lives. Yet, even with a sense of independence, there are things urban Christians cannot control. Just as farmers cannot control the rain, none of us can control job layoffs, poor health, crime, and financial hardships.

We may even take our blessings for granted rather than thanking God for them.

From the Pastor’s heart;

Don’t forget to use this time to reach out to others. Spend some time each day calling members on the telephone and offering to pray with them.

Pastors Requests
Remember II Chronicles 7:14. “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land.”

While we wait on God’s healing grace, let us fast and pray for His visitation. Pray for God to intervene and bring an end to this virus that we are facing. Pray for God to calm our spirits and help us to trust Him.

Pray for the lost to be saved. Pray for the unrighteous to turn to God. Pray for God to be glorified in the crisis we are going through. Pray in faith; pray with the confidence that God will hear and answer our prayers.
