 When we are listening to someone, we pick up subtle cues from inflections of voice, facial expressions, and body language that convey meanings along with the words we hear. And familiarity with another’s way of life adds a further dimension to how we interpret what he says.

It is for this reason that any distinction between word and deed is artificial when we are communicating the good news-the gospel. How good this news may be to those who hear it depends to a great extent upon how good the news is to those of us who tell it.

Our certainty as to its truth, our openness to its power, our sensitivity to the nuances of the Spirit among us these come across when we speak of God’s love.

The variety represented in our individual experiences in Christ lends a richness and diversity to the message through which others hear and believe. Each of us is a unique communicator for Christ.
